Review: Hearts in Darkness

Hearts in Darkness
Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved, loved, loved this book. I usually fall in love with the heroes, but this hero is SO different from any other, I fell in love twice as hard. No, I'm not kidding. Go on, ask others who've read this book...:)

Imagine having the worst day at work. You know, the kind of shitty day that since you wake up, everything goes from bad to worst. No matter what you do, things don't get any better. To top it all off you have a boss breathing down your neck every five minutes (goodness, if I had a boss like that, I'd give him a piece of my mind and quit). Finally, the day is over-- well maybe not over, but at least it feels better because you get to go home, even if you still have some more work to do. It doesn't matter, the light at the end of the tunnel is now visible, right? Well, NOT in Makenna's case. The last thing she expects is get stranded in an ELEVATOR of all things!!!

Anyone would think that's a horrible way to end the day. I mean, that's like putting a golden bow on top of it all, don't you think? Well, it turns out being stuck in an elevator, with a STRANGER-- oh YES, and what stranger that is...mm...mmm.mm is not such a bad thing.

This awesomely handsome...drop dead gorgeous stranger is nothing like anyone imagines. Even Makenna. I mean, she doesn't even know what he looks like. She never got a chance to take a peek at him before the lights went out, and the elevator stopped moving.

Caden has a rough don't-mess-with-me-if-you-know-any-better kind of look. I have to admit, I'd be scared to my wits, just by one look at him. Oh but looks can be deceiving...oh yes they can!

Need I say more?....Well, I certainly could, but I don't want to because I'd spoil it. There is the Red and Good Sam tease and a twenty questions game. Then, there is steam that comes out of the elevator...oh yes! Then, there's the what to do next...Caden crashed my heart with his story, then made me want to reach out and hold him. Then he made me want to scream "No!", "What are you doing?", "Where are you going?", "Stop that!", "Come back!", "Do more of that". It's a MARVELOUS read.

Dear Laura: you are officially one of my go to authors now ;0)

Here's Caden for you.  Isn't he GORGEOUS?? I'd love to hear from you.

Blurb:

Makenna James thinks her day can't get any worse, until she finds herself stuck in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call and juggling too much stuff, the pin-striped accountant caught only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights went out.

Caden Grayson is amused when a redhead literally falls at his feet. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he's terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he's trapped in his own worst nightmare.

To fight fear, they must both reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?
